An individual introductory lesson is offered and encouraged before committing to a riding program to determine if New Moon Ranch is an appropriate fit for interested riders.
The first lesson includes a discussion of herd and prey animals, the role of the lead mare within a particular herd or band, and a brief history of early to modern day horsemanship. It also includes a 15-20 minute basic grooming lesson and brief introduction to basic tack.
During the introductory lesson, the rider will use a bareback saddle. The private lesson will be conducted in a closed riding ring. Upon completion of the lesson, the rider is encouraged to contemplate their level of commitment and desired outcome before committing to a regular lesson schedule.
All riders begin with individual lessons and may advance to group lessons after achieving requisite benchmark skills.
